What I love about weaving - what I am drawn to and the thing that brings me back day after day - is that it allows me to take a breath. To shut off every trouble and only focus on what is next. Weaving allows me to work in small moments - repeated over and over again. My only thoughts are the mechanical motion of my hands and feet working together in a rhythmic way.

In my own work, I aim to create access to heirloom quality textiles. I explore various natural fibers and color combinations to make something worthy of holding on to. I focus on the wonderful juxtaposition between art and function - which satisfies my need to always be creating, to always be forming something with purpose and beauty. Textile art is rooted in tradition - but I find that rather than hindering its advancement, looking to the past can help cultivate a better understanding of what comes next for modern textiles.
